Policies and important information

Telehealth Information

Snip Psychology provides psychological services via secure telehealth platforms, including video and telephone consultations. Telehealth allows clients to attend appointments remotely from a location of their choice.

Requirements for Telehealth Sessions

Clients are encouraged to attend sessions from a private, quiet location with a stable internet connection and a device capable of audio and video communication (where video is agreed). At the beginning of each session, we will verify your physical location. Please notify us of any changes to your emergency contact details for safety purposes.

Informed Consent & Ongoing Consent

We will discuss the suitability of telehealth for your needs at the beginning of treatment and throughout treatment. Telehealth services may not be suitable for all individuals or circumstances, including high-risk situations, acute crisis, or situations where immediate emergency access is required. You can withdraw your consent to telehealth at any time, and we will discuss alternative arrangements with you.

Technology Risks & Limitations

While reasonable steps are taken to protect privacy and confidentiality, telehealth services involve some limitations and technology risks outside the clinician's control, including:

  • Internet interruptions or connection failures
  • Unauthorised access to communications
  • Technical or platform failures
  • Audio or video quality issues

If a connection is disrupted during a session, we will make reasonable attempts to reconnect or continue the appointment by telephone where appropriate. If connection cannot be re-established, we will contact you to reschedule.

Platform Security

Snip Psychology uses secure, encrypted telehealth platforms designed for healthcare use. Your session data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Medicare & Funding Eligibility

For Medicare rebates to apply, both you and your psychologist must be physically located in Australia at the time of the telehealth consultation. If either party is overseas, Medicare rebates will not be available.

Crisis & Emergency

Snip Psychology is not a crisis or emergency service. If you require urgent assistance or are at immediate risk of harm:

  • Call 000 (emergency)
  • Present to your nearest emergency department
  • Contact Lifeline on 13 11 14
  • Contact the Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659 467

Email and voicemail are not monitored continuously and should not be used for urgent or emergency situations.

Fees & Cancellation Policy

Fees

Fees are payable at the time of appointment unless otherwise arranged. We will provide you with a fee schedule and discuss payment arrangements before your first session.

Cancellation & Rescheduling

Clients are requested to provide at least 48 business hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling requests. Late cancellations (less than 48 hours notice) or non-attendance may incur the full session fee. Exceptions may be made in cases of genuine emergency or illness.

Medicare Rebates

Where applicable, Medicare rebates are processed in accordance with current Medicare Benefits Schedule requirements and Better Access initiative guidelines. You are responsible for ensuring you meet eligibility criteria for Medicare rebates. We will advise you of any out-of-pocket costs.

Invoicing & Records

Invoices will be provided upon request. Receipts for tax or insurance purposes are available.
