Telehealth psychology involves therapy sessions conducted via video conferencing or phone calls. Snip Psychology uses video conferencing platforms designed for health services. All you will need is internet connection, a device with video and audio (laptop/phone/tablet, or computer with camera) and a private space where you can speak freely.
Telehealth is suitable for many presentations, including anxiety disorders, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, ADHD support, grief, and adjustment difficulties. Your psychologist will assess whether telehealth is appropriate for your specific needs. Telehealth may not be suitable if you are experiencing severe crisis, active suicidal ideation, or require in-person assessment.
Sessions typically last 50-60 minutes. This is the same as most in-person options.
Fees are $235 for a standard 50-60 minute individual session. If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan, you may be eligible for a medicare rebate of $149.05- making the out of pocket cost $85.95. If you have private health, you may instead be able to claim a rebate from your insurer. Please check with your insurer to see if you are eligible.
Yes, however we only see clients who are plan or self managed. We follow the NDIS fee schedule.
A Mental Health Care Plan is a structured treatment plan created by your GP that outlines your mental health needs, treatment goals, and the types of services required. It enables you to access subsidised psychology sessions under the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative through Medicare. You can book with your GP to discuss a MHCP. We recommend booking a longer appointment to complete your MHCP, as sometimes this can take 30-45 minutes.
You do not need a Mental Health Care Plan to see a psychologist. However, to access Medicare rebates for psychology sessions, you must have a valid Mental Health Care Plan from your GP or psychiatrist. You can still see a psychologist without a referral, but you will pay the full fee.
You can access up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year. Initially, your GP will usually refer you for 6 sessions. After completing these, your GP will review your progress. If more support is needed, you can access a further 4 sessions within the same calendar year.
Some private health insurance policies include extras coverage for psychology sessions. Contact your health insurer to check your eligibility, the number of sessions covered, and the exact rebate amount.
You can book an appointment by emailing info@snippsychology.com.au
We typically respond to booking requests within 48 - 72 hours. You can request a 10 minute discovery call before booking if you want to ask any questions or want to check if the psychologists is the right fit.
